Job Description
The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving business growth. He/she closely monitors market trends and developments to identify opportunities and develop business development strategies. He/she is responsible for developing planning in the areas of Marketing, Sales and Customer Service aimed at achieving turnover targets and strengthening market position. The Business Development Manager reports to the Director and has 3 direct reports and approximately 15 indirect reports.
Responsibilities include:
- Collect and analyze market information, discuss trends and developments relevant to the organization and coordinate strategic plans to develop and expand sales markets.
- Advice Management on necessary adjustments or changes within the organization to enable the development of new products and/or services.
- Responsible for the cost price calculation of new products and/or services in collaboration with the Finance Manager.
- Initiate and coordinate research in the areas of interest.
- Ensure that optimal customer service is provided.
- Carry out an annual customer satisfaction survey and report findings to Management.
- Responsible for drawing up a marketing policy, including product plans, rate proposals, turnover and cost price targets for approval by the Board.
- Responsible for periodic reports and forecasts on achieved and expected turnover developments.
- Ensure proper guidance, training and coaching of employees. Conduct performance conversations with employees on a regular basis.
Requirements
- Min. Bachelors degree in business administration, sales, marketing & communication or equivalent
- At least 5 years experience as a business development manager, sales executive or a relevant role.
- Experience in customer support is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills, able to keep up with market developments and identify opportunities.
- Assertive, pro-active and continuously looking for new opportunities.
- Problem solving skills, able to develop specific customer solutions.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills both verbal and in writing.
