Job Description
Our client, a leading commercial bank, plays a pivotal role in driving Aruba’s financial and economic growth through business and retail banking services. While banking in Aruba operates similarly to other global markets, the island’s smaller scale offers management roles with a broader scope than those in European or U.S. banks.
This is an ideal opportunity if you are ready to lead strategic initiatives, enhance risk management and compliance, foster a collaborative culture, and contribute to meaningful developments within the bank.
In this role, you will report directly to the CEO and oversee the teams responsible for Risk Management, IT Risk Management, Special Assets, and Compliance. In this leadership role, you will be part of the management team, providing direction and strategy for the entire organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee Enterprise Risk Management and ensure robust business continuity plans.
- Co-develop risk policy frameworks aligned with the bank’s strategic goals and risk appetite.
- Lead credit risk management, optimizing risk-adjusted returns by managing exposure across portfolios.
- Spearhead cybersecurity efforts to protect organizational assets and sensitive data.
- Ensure compliance with AML/CFT policies, conduct risk assessments, and lead anti-money laundering initiatives.
- Analyze market trends and competitor behavior to anticipate impacts and adjust strategies accordingly.
Requirements
- Preferably an MSc degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Proven expertise in Audit, Risk Management, and Compliance within the banking sector.
- Demonstrated senior leadership skills in fostering a people-first strategy, inspiring teams, and aligning vision with organizational goals.
- A strategic mindset with the ability to cultivate teamwork and collaboration.
- Strong analytical skills with a detail-oriented approach.
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and policies impacting the financial services industry.
- A strong interest in working in a different business culture and the ability to adapt your expertise and leadership style accordingly.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Dutch, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to navigate and influence within a complex organizational environment.
- A results-driven focus, with an emphasis on achieving measurable outcomes and driving business success.
